About This Site
The LHIN Exchange is a collaboration among six provincial organizations committed to raising the profile of mental illness and addictions in Ontario.
The purpose of the LHIN Exchange website is to enable mental health and addictions stakeholders in Ontario to share news about developments in their LHIN with others across the province. Through an open exchange of accurate and timely information, all stakeholders can contribute to the planning and development of an effective community mental health and addictions system.
Content on this website is provided by a network of Contributors across the province.
The Mental Health and Addictions LHIN Exchange is not an official website of any Local Health Integration Network nor of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

Who Can Join the LHIN Exchange?
In the start-up phase, we’re enrolling members of all the community mental health and addiction agencies that belong to one of the six provincial organizations collaborating on the project (Addictions Ontario, CMHA Ontario, CAMH, OPDI, OAPC and the Federation). During stage two, we will be inviting others to join the community (see Request User Account if you're interested in future registration).
There are three user roles on the LHIN Exchange: Editor, Contributor, and Registered User. Each role has a different level of permission to read, publish or edit content. The main difference is that content published by editors and contributors will appear on the public side of the LHIN Exchange. Comments posted by registered users, on the other hand, will be visible only to other members of the LHIN Exchange community.
EDITORS
Each provincial organization has identified one person to be an editor. The editor serves as the point of contact between the provincial association and the website administrator.
REGISTERED USERS
To ensure that we can provide proper support to new users and manage the growth of our online community, we are registering participants in stages. During the start-up phase, we are creating accounts for ONE registered user from each member agency – ideally, someone whose role requires them to interact with the LHIN or be aware of LHIN activities.
Being a registered user of the LHIN Exchange community will enable participants to do several things:
- Subscribe to receive e-mail updates whenever new information is posted on a particular topic. Users have complete control to manage their own subscriptions. They can subscribe by Topic, by LHIN, by Contributor, or any combination.
- Read comments posted on the private side of the website by other community members.
- Respond to contributor posts and user comments, to share what they know about activities within their own LHIN.
- Contact contributors and other users via an online form. Each user has a user profile (name, organization, etc.), visible only to other members of the LHIN Exchange community.
CONTRIBUTORS
Each provincial association has also been asked to identify individuals who may be interested in being contributors – people in a good position to know what’s going on in their own LHIN and are willing to devote a little time to publishing regular (or occasional) updates. Our goal is to have several contributors in each LHIN, to share the burden and to broaden the scope of reporting. Content submitted by contributors will be published on the public side of the website. (Contributors may also read and post comments on the private side.)
